check this one out: The chicken is ready to eat.

is it:

[*]because it's feeding time for my pet chicken, or
[*]because the chicken is fried and ready to serve to the family?

bloody confusing language.. ngakaks

my answer is :
because the chicken is fried and ready to serve to the family

merujuk kepada penjelasan di spoiler agan :
he's easy to please = it is easy to please him = to please him is easy
The chicken is ready to eat = it is ready to eat the chicken = to eat the chicken is ready

Well, the sentence of "Chicken is ready to eat" is ambiguous. It's not wrong to elaborate it like what loc posted "it's feeding time for the chicken, so They can eat whenever they are ready".
But, most of us interpret it as if the chicken are the ones that will get eaten. *because it's more usual statement*D.
Then, How about "I am ready to eat" ? It's impossible to interpret it like you are ready to eat by someone. To be frank, it depends on the situation and context.

i agree with you : it is ambigous (depends on the situation and context).
i think we must be 'careful' in translating/interpreting "I am ready to eat" and "chicken is ready to eat".

'How lucky am I' is a mere interrogative sentence, while 'How lucky I am' is a noun clause. \)

That's why you should ask google first D.

You and Your both are different pronouns.
as what posted on page 1. You is a subject pronoun and your is a possessive adjective pronoun.
Hope you have known the difference in usage between subject pronoun and possessive adjective pronoun already D.

have you read page 1, post #1 of this thread? the answer is there.

[*]First Impressions (Longman Elementary Reading Skills) by Samuela Eckstut, Diana Lubelska and Sue Parker (Longman:1989)
[*]Reading Elementary (Oxford Supplementary Skills) by Rosemary Scott (Oxford University Press:1987)
[*]Timesaver Read and React: Beginner - Intermediate by Jane Myles (Ed) (Mary Glasgow/Scholastic:2003)

penting: dalam mengerjakan soal2 latihan dalam buku2 di atas, jgn 'tergoda' langsung melihat kunci jawaban sebelum mencoba menjawab. percuma nantinya, skill agan tidak akan terasah. \)

'reduced clause' di sini apanya ya? cara membuat konstruksinya? memahami artinya? apanya?

have you read inside the spoiler? better yet, have you read the entire section of the book i mentioned (i hope you have a copy of it)? have you checked other english language discussion forums talking about this topic? go ahead, google.

come on. you've been here long enough to know how much i appreciate references to print publications, right? besides, have you read my last few lines in that answer? \)

Reduced clause means clause which is reduced to make it simpler.

Let's use this example.
- While I had been waiting you, I called you twice.
reduced clause : While waiting you, I called you twice.
On the first clause we reduce it by removing subject, auxiliary verb, and a past participle.

another example :
- Joko who was being scolded by the teacher is absent now.
reduced clause : Joko scolded by the teacher is absent now.

Hope it will help you even a little. \)

Please fill in the incomplete application section

Tergantung konteks, nanya beginian ga bisa sepotong2, kudu kasih kalimat full / konteksnya baru orang bisa bantu..

Do you understand? = apakah kamu mengerti?

Do + Pronoun + verb

Kalo are + pronoun + noun

Understand = verb jadi pake yg atas

Umm, sorry gan I won't give you any answer because your question is too random. You had better learn how to use pronouns and auxiliary verbs properly before asking them\). *I'm sorry if this a little rude* You know you are asking us as if you want us to tell or teach you the whole content. Seriously, if you mean this, you are just abusing us p.
