May I post your question explicitly over here in order that the others could get the same information as well?

Here's your question:

Quote:
I am willing to take the iBT in November (still not decide
the exact date, but i think the later is better for me because that means more time to prepare )

*November 2011: 12, 13, 20, 26

According to above date, my questions are
1. If i am going to take the iBT at November 26th, is it possible for ETS to send the result to other institution before December 31st? If it's not possible, would you recommend another date? Still the later is better for me...
2. When normally, the test taker will know the result and will receive the result (in hardcopy)? And because it is near to christmas, does the normal timeline still applicable?
3. I also have planned to take the GRE Test, so can anyone share about the GRE Test? because i can't find it on the first page.

thank you and sorry for my broken english
i really appreciate your reply..

Allright, this might help you:

For question1&2:
If you take the test on November 26th 2011, your fastest online result is available on December 5th (after 10 days excluded Friday-Sat-Sun).
The official hardcopy of your TOEFL result will be sent 25 -30 days after the on line version (around January 5th). However, this sounds impossible since the US region is having Christmas Holiday for a week starting from Dec 24th until the end of Jan.
So, my prediction is... The hardcopy score is arriving on the second week of Jan 2012
*Note: If you sent the hardcopy to some institutions in US, it will just take 1 week after the on line version.

For question No.3
I am not quite familiar with the GRE. Just have few knowledge about it. Hope the others are able to assist you

There are two options if you face this situation:

1. You haven't actually pushed yourself over the limit of your English
2. You are in need of finding the right TOEFL instructor who are able to show you the ways to think about the problems 'outside the box'

*550 isn't too bad if you are non-native English speaker D

Allright, I've got an IELTS Writing Task1 sample for everyone who wants to try his/her writing in here. Constructive comments, criticisms, and sharing are very welcomed shakehand

Some useful Tips for IELTS Writing Task 1:

Tips 1:
Start with a sentence telling the reader what we are going to explain such as: The graph shows global water use by sector during the last a century; while the table depicts water consumption in Brazil and Congo in the year 2000.

Tips 2:
Define any information you can understand from the figure, chart, table, or anything given there. Avoid mentioning additional reasons, causes, or any personal thoughts that often we think will give bonus points.

Tips 3:
The examiner will cut down your points if do so. Just explain what we can read. For example, the graph tells us that the largest water consumption is for agricultural use for the last a hundred years. It keeps raising as the years go by, while water for industrial and domestic use generally minimum until in 1950s, when the uses steadily increase with time. Do not mention some reasons why agriculture consume more water or why the water consumption for industrial and domestic uses are less. Another thing is, in the IELTS preparation, we will be trained to use adverbs to describe how far is the changes in charts or whatsoever, like dramatically, slowly, sharply, etc. It is very useful to give accurate description of some information.

Tips 4:
Avoid using the same words (repetition) to describe the information. People may tend to use the same-boring words to explain the graph, for example the consumption on agriculture rises over the years, and the domestic use also rises. It is better to say, water consumption for agriculture purpose keeps raising for the past a century, while industrial and domestic use of water only show a steep increase after 1950s. See? Use ‘raise’ and ‘increase’.

beer: waw .. it's been a while I'm not writing this stuff .. I wish I haven't forgot all the rules ..

Spoiler for err
The graph provides information about the worldwide use of water in agriculture, industrial and domestic sector over the last century. One of the most striking features of the graph is that the quantity of water usage for agriculture purpose far leaving both the industrial and domestic use behind. There was a steep increase of almost 600% in agricultural water use, ending the century at approximately 3,000 km3 from the starting point 500 km3. Likewise, there was an upward trend of water use for both the industrial and domestic sectors. However, industrial use experienced a steady increase to a little bit over 1000km3, while domestic use was leveled off until 1960 before experienced a slight rise to nearly 300 km3 in the year 2000.

The table shows statistics of water consumption per person and water use for irrigated land in Brazil and Democratic Republic of Congo in 2000. The most noticeable feature is that Brazil’s population was almost 34 times larger than Congo’s. Similarly, the number for water consumption per person in Brazil was approximately 45 times greater than Congo’s. It is also worth noting that the amount of irrigated land in Brazil was 26,500 km³ whereas that in the Congo was only 100 km².

read carefully on the scholarship information. if it said that you can use "Institutional TOEFL", you can use PBT. but if it said that you must use "International TOEFL", you must take the IBT.

you might need to check your university as well. see if it allows you to use Institutional Toefl or not.

sorry... i have not entered this forum for a long time p
from your answer, TOEFL PBT = institutional TOEFL?
or i must take official test again?
