I will surely teach my kids English early, as I also speak English. BUT I will also teach them Indonesian. In fact, I don't have to teach them both, because I will speak to them with these languages, so it will be more like a habit to them than a study. Unfortunately I can't speak Javanese/Balinese (I'm Javanese but live in Bali), but will be very happy if I have someone to teach me and my kids these beautiful languages. \)

It won't be as difficult to teach kids to learn English at very young age in Indonesia. They'd still be using bahasa indonesia when they step out and make friends, so they are conditioned to speak English only at home. That's how the interracial families here teach their kids bahasa indonesia anyway. Be sure to make it fun! Kids like anything fun and it is easier for them to learn that way.

I think it depends on your future goal of your kids, you want bring them to what culture.
As we know, the best time children learning language is under ten. our children will easily get bahasa Indonesia in their daily life (with teacher, friends, mass media, etc), then we can introduce them our mother tongue in family setting.
I think English is important for our children for their future. So, I will teach English for my child earlier, and also, I will teach my child her mother tongue in the same time.

I agree with you. Environment will teach the kids Indonesian culture and Indonesian language. So, we can teach them English as long as their mother tongue to make them familiar with English as long as Indonesian language and their mother tongue. I think that's the best way

i think as many people's opinion, learn english since we're children is very important
it isn't in doubt i think.
about your problem, maybe you can teach your children soon about your mother language as well as you teach your english
because what? because english is international languange and on the other side, our mother tongue is our culture and it has to preserved by us Will you teach your kid to speak English very early?

It doesn't really matter, if we using english for our daily activites to aour children. At least, it makes them habitual speaking on english. Language will be more easy remember in younger age.
About worried, they will be forget their mother language (javanese) it is unreasonable because they more often listen indonesia or javanese than english when they are speak to other.

well, if that so, teach him/her indonesian language first, and then you can teach him/her english.
but don't teach him/her too many language, sometime kids could get confused.
